Personal weblog of Guardian Unlimited journalist and sometime creative writer
I am from Lanchester, a quiet, pretty village in County Durham, in the north-east of England. I studied English Literature at Sheffield University. I began my journalism career as a Mirror Group trainee and worked on various Mirror titles for three years. I joined Guardian Unlimited in 2000 and work as a news reporter and writer. I'm interested in crime, home affairs, defence, and psychology stories.
I write fiction and completed a novel, Buttress Point, in January 2003. It remains, alas, unpublished. I am currently working on a new book about a ghost which is trapped in the vault of the Bank of England and needs to convince someone to rob the bank to free it from purgatory.
